Latest news

Well, last weekend I was kinda busy with other stuff so the best I could was thorough wash of the underbody & wheel arcs. I might have to do that again some day, since 1 wash wasn't enough, but its enough that I can start grinding the rust areas and painting.

Its sort of funny how the pressurized water and strong soap took all the loose shit away, now you can see all the corrosion damage how its going etc.. I believe its still under control, so its still green light for Probe :)

Sorry no pics. And the reason I posted is because next Sunday I'm going to Teneriffe and I won't be updating this blog for a few weeks, just to let you know :)

Two days at the garage again

Well that was a pretty well spent weekend. Friday was social, saturday was plain shit but sunday I made it happen, once again;

So there's a few new places welded up.. I know they'r ugly as fuck, but does the job.. I grind them always a bit but somehow never dare to grind to the level of the piece. At least this time I didn't skip any parts, all the backings of the new pieces are grinded off rust and extra :) I'm finally getting a lil bit better @ welding too, it's not such of a pain in the ass anymore, I mean, I kinda like it these days.. :D

Well it'll look better once its painted and seamed. :)

Also a pic of some of the purchases I've had to made lately.. I'm totally broke for now, barely can afford food. :D

But uhh let's hope I can get all of the welding done next weekend for now, so I can move little by little to the more fun stuff. Before any of that though, there's more grinding which might mean more welding.. Fingers crossed :)

Back Home

Well, the vacations over, and I made my Probe from the state: scrap metal to project back on. Welded all the tricky bits, now I only have two easy places to weld.. Unfortunately I had to throw my principles of never welding new without taking the rusted material off in the trash once, cos otherwise it couldnt been done, not by me and my skills and tools anyway.

Here's one before and after. Later I welded grinded and painted all of the weldings I made but I didn't take pics then..

I also found and bought a new filling pipe.. got lucky, the MX-6 (626 GD) part is the same!

I also took apart the rear axle.. Note to anyone doing the same, do make sure there are no stuck bolts before taking it off the car. I had to take it to my school so I could take them off afterwards. :o

And the best news, I broke the ABS sensors and the knuckle end through bolt for the suspension rods. Thats gonna rob my wallet ten times over. Now I've been investigating 626/MX6/Probe compatibilites like crazy whole day to find out what can be done...

Other stuff I've broke so far are the caliper guide in the mounting bracket, stabilizer links and the brake pads. :D Ching ching.

But it's all worth it if I can ride my Probe again next summer, hot day, ac blowing, dump valve whistling.. fuck cant wait. :P

angst

Today was useless. I realized the corrosion damage goes for a meter or so (under the skirt). Welding this one properly is gonna be one of the most difficult things I've ever done.. I hope I will find a way to get the damaged sheet out and new one in. If not, I might have to pack it up somehow and start thinking about selling it, cos I'm not going to spend thousands of euros on a car thats suffering from serious corrosion problems..

Thumbs up, tomorrow I will try to get the thinking done and the corroded parts out, day after weld + paint..
No pics today as I needed to hurry home before 9pm when they stop selling beer :D
