Back in Business, Boys

Right on. Had a week long holiday again from which a few good days were spent with the Probe. It means the car is now almost ready for antirust chems, just a few places to grind and paint now. :) And after I'll start buying and conditioning the parts and bolts, assemble as I go. It's been a long way but we're over the worst part now, I think.

Some pics yeah :)

1 more layer of paint, seam the welds, and its ready on the left side :) Note the oem jack place :P

The RH side is grinded 'n 1 layer painted too. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take 100% of the rust off because my tools dont fit very well in some tight spots and in some places the metal would've come too thin.. From my experience the paint I'm using here should usually accept a lil bit of rust, actually its supposed to be a paint you can paint directly over rust.. But from experience the paint only works if you take out as much you can. Lil spots dont come through the paint though, and they dont spread as well with the paint.

Maybe it'll take its revenge after a few years but then I'll just weld the new piece in like on the other side, because in the inside of the sideskirt there is still rust (based on how it was on the other side) and it makes no difference to make it shiny bright at this point. But hopefully this will last at least until next winter, cos' I'm on a deadline here.

Basicly the last weldings.. A new spot to bolt the filler pipe assy to, and closing the side skirt case. :) Still have to weld in that another piece, have it shaped already but had to paint the inside of the brackets I made so can't weld yet until its dry. :)

The new brake and fuel linings bent, 1 finished product in upper photo. I used grease and heat shrink tubing for looks and a lil protection against corrosion and wear. Below is also the tactic I used to get the original shape, zip tie as I go to make it the same.. Hope the idea is not a fuck up :D

And finally some brackets I put in fosfor acid (easy way for rust removal in small bits). I try to be keen in detail.;)

So long, looking forward to get the underbody ready for reassembly in 2-3 weeks. :) Write again then!
