We been moving

So, the move to the new place is done. Looking at the pics it looks even crappier than the old one, but it isn't. I'll miss the pit I bet, but theres a good feeling in there, other hobbyist in the neighbourhood and so on.

So long, old place! You were good but I had enough of the bitching I got there. Mostly about paint smell, electricity costs and noise. Also, it was a lot colder in the winter than the new one I hear.

It looks quite cramped with 2 cars inside (Probe and my moms Hyundai Coupe) but usually there is only the Probe as at least for now my dad means to keep the place open for repairs. Might bring his motorcycle, though, that'll be handy if I need some beer ;) Just kidding.

Some crappy pics, I couldn't get a decent one with my shitty phone camera, but you'll get the idea. There's actually quite a lot of space around me where I'm standing in the photos, so thats all good.

Now for perhaps the best bit, I got to ride the Probe! I paid the inspectors some money and they gave me 2 days "moving license plates". It just a sticker on the real plates, really, but it was awesome.

But not as mind blowing as I thought it would be, but then again, it's not ready yet (the turn signal and light switch were resting on my legs loose and the heater/blower wasn't installed so you couldn't drive too long or things got foggy.. and no the windows weren't working either :D) and I had to be very careful and all the time I knew I couldn't drive too far, so it didn't give me the sense of freedom I love about cars. And in the end, it's just a car, I guess I expected it to be a Transformer after all this time, money and effort. :D But it'll be another story with the dash in place and a inspection stamp in the papers.

All in all, I'm very pleased, it all worked, which was a relief and a pleasant surprise even, as some of you may remember how my last drive ended.. :D Link here to last years last attempt to inspect the car

The discs made some rumble in the beginning but I think pads evened them up, now that the pimples weren't so big on the brake discs. The braking power feels very good now and solid, probably thanks to the stuff I did last year. (steel braid lines, new calipers, EBC pads, Brembo discs) Will have to finish it up in the front next year !

And the power was there, RROOAAR. I got some acknowledgement for my work as well as some guy in the street lights wouldn't stop signaling me until I had revved the engine.. and finally left him eating my dust. ;) It was all fun and laugh though, I think it's kinda stupid if you take it too seriously.

On a final note, I finally ordered THIS...
22e with shipping from DealExtreme, I saw 'em selling that very same kit around for 100e in my country so I figured it should work. :) The reviews were very good as well. It's worth a try, and I do want a reverse radar as the car is a bit big and bulky, and after I tint the rear windows it's gonna be a bit difficult. And also reversing is not my strongest point. ;D

Big respect for my GF and my dad who were most helpful this time. :)

T h a n k  y o u!

Alright, twas a bit long post, but you probably wont hear me for another few weeks so hang in there, enjoy the summer.. I know I will.. Soon. ;>

P.S. If you're affiliated with Mark from FordProbeStore.co.uk, tell him to send the sensors or return the money already. It's been too long and I need to get my car moving!

Preppin the car for moving

Yeap, had half a day at the garage, put on the steering wheel and cleaned up in the car, installed some essential parts for driving and the gauges. There's so much stuff I need to go through, it's amazing how much shit I've gatherred to the garage in a year. And then again it's all useful in some way, so that'll take some time.

Anyhow I tested the new dials and painted the roofliner. My friends roofliner only took one can of spray, I put three in mine and it still would need one or two more cans of that fabric spray. I think it's because my friends roofliner was level fabric and mine is like "furry".

Anyways some pics, didn't get a pic of the new place but it's quite good, I think I can do all the same things there and what's best, I'm not expecting to hear any bitching! Other car hobbyists in the same building, which is probably nice. :)

The dials are from Moman.PL, pretty fast delivery and packaging was very good, the instructions are google translate'd but make sense when you think about it a little. Overall very happy with the deal, cost ~70e with shipping.

The light is actually more white to the eye, the camera put a heavy blue tint to it. But nice eyh!

During daylight

As you can see the third can ran out in the passenger corner (right in the pic).. But then again I don't know if it's gonna show.  A can costs 12e so the color of the rooflining has already cost me 36e. But it's amazing that the vinyl spray actually works, it doesn't make the surface of the fabric hard or anything, and I don't think it wears off either especially on place like this where there is no physical wear.

Anyways, get back to ya in few weeks.

Been a while

Had the flue and working day and night so I haven't had time to be at the garage, really. Summer is approaching so I really need to compromise stuff at this point. However, we had a day at the garage and did manage to paint the upper half of the dashboard and finish the alarm installation, which means the turbo timer and remote start are working atm. It's supersweet, I'll try to remember to take a vid of the features next time. :)

Also I got the new EL gauges from Moman.pl, don't have a pic of them either but they sure look nice, will post when I try to see if they work. :)

Anyway here's a few pics of the upper dash panel.

Looking nice ey :) Actually my girlfriend did these while I was wiring the rest of the alarm. She did a superb job for a first timer, a bit proud. ;>

Anyhow, got some news, my pap rented a bigger garage for the two of us, so it's gonna eat up some time as well as I need to pack my car up so it can be moved and as well my stuff. The new one doesn't have a pit and has some other cons but a definate pro is that should be the end of the bitching I've been getting for the smell of the paint, the noise of the tools and use of electricity at my garage.

Will post pics when I get to see the new place. The new one is as far away from my home as this one so it doesn't help the fact that I can only go there during day offs from work.
